South Korean game studio Blueside has announced that the classic Xbox real-time strategy game Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders will be available on PC (Steam) sometime in Q1 2020.
For anyone wanting to play Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders on PC, well, your time is almost here. The recent announcement follows the launch of Kingdom Under Fire 2 on Steam in late 2019.
The upcoming title has been described by the press release as “an unforgettable RTS/Third-person action hybrid packed with action.” The PC port will be available 16 years after the game’s debut on the original Xbox back in 2004.
The official description reads:
Head into battle and fight for control of Bersia once more as either the Human Alliance or the Dark Legion. Fan favorites return to the fray including Gerald, Kendall, Leinheart and the terrifying Renier. Command legions on the battlefield while simultaneously laying waste to the enemy with your favorite hero.
In order to play the Steam version of Kingdom Under Fire 2, you must purchase the game on Steam. Purchasing and launching the game via Steam will create a new Kingdom Under Fire 2 account which is linked to Steam. Existing Kingdom Under Fire 2 accounts which were not created on Steam cannot be played via Steam. ‘Kingdom Under Fire 2’ is a true sequel to ‘Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders’ the former series. Kingdom Under Fire II will not only inherit all the merits of the previous Action RTS series that numerous fans have raved about but also feature much enhanced game system that will allow gamers to experience vastly immense tactical game.

I remember playing this game, years back, on my friend’s Xbox (I have always been more of a PC and PlayStation person).
The gameplay was definitely something new to me in the early 2000s. The shift of perspective as you fought on the battlefield was very exciting as a young player. Seeing characters display a variety of combat moves was always fun to watch. It was all about finding the correct strategy to bring your enemies down.

In the Human Alliance, we have Gerald, Kendal, Rupert, Ellen (her lack of armor in the original design is unfortunate), Duane, and Thomas.
In the Dark Legion, there’s Regnier, Lucretia, Cirith, Morene Strident, Urukubarr, and Leinhart.
All of the characters have their own skills and moves to help change gameplay.

Kingdom Under Fire II on the PlayStation 4 will have better graphics compared to the PC version, according to the game’s executive producer Sang Youn Lee. Kingdom Under Fire II is a massively multiplayer online real-time strategy RPG that is under development at Blue Side Studios.

When asked about the graphics differences between PC and PS4 versions in an interview with 2P, Lee stated: “A little hard to tell you right now because if the PC users know, they will be very angry. PS4 has much better graphics. PS4 graphics quality will be much better and higher than the PC version.”
This is certainly interesting since a modern PC is supposed to be much powerful than the new consoles. But again, the PS4 has been compared to a high end PC in the past. Lee also revealed that they will like to bring to the Xbox One but that depends on Microsoft.
Kingdom Under Fire II runs on the FAME Tech 2 engine and is expected to release later this year. The developer is planning to have a simultaneous launch across Europe, Japan and Korea.
