While the original Shantae is a rather short game, with only two linear stages, four small dungeons and a rather large overworld, Risky’s Revenge is even shorter, with only three much smaller dungeons (one of which is just a timed enemy rush), a shoot-em-up-esque final stage and a rather compact overworld. And while there are now Magic Jams. Remain as Shantae because after you hit the barrel, Risky will jump into the background to launch cannonballs at you, some of which contain Tinkerbats. Change into a monkey once she comes back to the foreground. Because speed is important, it’s a good idea to stay close to the ship at all times. Risky has a new move. - Base resolution is 256x192 where game scales using nearest neighbour. Modes are original which scales game with 1:1 ratio, full which uses whole width/height of resolution while maintaining aspect ratio and stretch which stretches the game to fill up whole selected resolution.

Controller remapping[edit]
- Menu controls are not adapted properly for the Xbox 360 Controller, with the A and B buttons being swapped. Keys for menu are separate binding, but for some reason game refuses to bind one button to more than one action, making swapping A and B buttons impossible in game menu. Manual remapping is required to fix.
